CDV and Contempt?

A Laurens man – facing Domestic Violence charges from Clinton Wednesday afternoon – was convicted on Contempt of Court charges Thursday in Clinton Municipal Court.

   Clinton Public Safety Officers were dispatched toNorth Broad Street at 4:31 Wednesday afternoon and investigated reports of an altercation between the Laurens man and a Clinton woman. Officers were told the man reportedly struck the woman in the face with mail he was holding during the incident. Officers arrested 30-year-old Demarcus Antonio Franklin of113 Hampton Street, Laurens on a charge of Criminal Domestic Violence.

    Meanwhile, in Clinton Municipal Court yesterday, Judge Joel Whitsel found Franklin guilty of Contempt of Court, and sentenced him to ten days in the Laurens County Detention Center.

   Demarcus Antonio “D-Moe”Franklinwas placed in theLaurens County lockup to serve that time. Meanwhile, there is a $2,150 cash bond set on the CDV charge, as Demarcus Franklin awaits General Sessions Court action on the Domestic Violence charge.
