Laurens County Touchdown Club Releases Schedule

A stellar slate of speakers highlights the 2012 season for the Laurens County Touchdown Club as they kick off the season on Friday, August 24 at Lakeside Country Club.

The club, whose aim is to “promote a spirit of cooperation and organization through a common interest, FOOTBALL,” recognizes college and high school football players for their on-field achievements and accomplishments.

The kickoff meeting will be held at noon, Aug. 24 at the Lakeside Country Club and will feature Presbyterian College head coach Harold Nichols, Clinton High School head coach Scott King, Laurens District 55 High School head coach Greg Lawson and Laurens Academy head coach Tyler Vanhook as guest speakers.

“We are excited about the group of speakers that our committee has put together for this season,” said Billy Dunlap, Touchdown Club President. “It is great to be able to recognize our local student-athletes each week and celebrate the game of football in Laurens County.”

At each meeting, players of the week for CHS, LDHS, LA and PC will be recognized for their achievements on the field.

The Touchdown Club will host eight meetings total this year. The remaining schedule of speakers includes:

September 7 – Levon Kirkland, former Clemson and NFL standout.

 September 21 – Mike Ayers, head coach of the Wofford Terriers.

 October 5 – Willie Jeffries – former head coach at S.C. State.

 October 19 – Doug Rhoads, ACC football coordinator of officials

November 2 – Shell Dula, executive director of the SC Athletic Coaches Association

November 16 – “Voice of the Tigers” Pete Yanity and “Voice of the Gamecocks” Todd Ellis

November 29 – (Annual Banquet) Coach David Bennett

Several options are available for those interested in becoming a sponsor:

Game day sponsorship ($750 each) – includes four memberships with meals, four banquet tickets, sponsor recognition on all game day programs and banquet programs with logo, a large banner spot, and two season tickets to home games at Presbyterian College, Laurens District 55 High School, Clinton High School and Laurens Academy.

Gold sponsorship ($350 each) – includes three memberships with meals, three banquet tickets, sponsor recognition on all game day programs and banquet programs and a sponsor mention on banner.

Silver sponsorship ($250 each) – includes two memberships with meals, two banquet tickets, sponsor recognition on all game day programs and banquet programs and a sponsor mention on banner.

Meal-only sponsors ($150 each) – includes one membership with meals, one banquet ticket, sponsor recognition on all game day programs and banquet programs.

Single membership sponsor ($150) – includes all meals and one banquet ticket.
