LDHS Principal Resigns, Effective Today

A change in leadership at Laurens District 55 High School was announced this morning. It’s to take effect immediately. A District 55 news release reports that Principal Wayne McIntosh has submitted his resignation as Principal of Laurens District 55 High School, effective today. The release states McIntosh has accepted the position of Managing Director of York Preparatory Academy in Rock Hill,South Carolina.

McIntosh assumed the position of principal at LDHS in June of 2008. Prior to his service in District 55, McIntosh served as principal of Madison County High School in Danielsville,Georgia. His career in education spans thirty-nine years; seventeen of those years as a high school principal. A 1973 graduate ofFurmanUniversity, McIntosh later earned his Masters from Converse College, and Masters +30 from Winthrop University and The Citadel.

District 55 Superintendent Billy Strickland notes the district’s plan to name an interim principal for the high school. “It is my intention to have a person in this leadership role before teachers return on August 14. We are very appreciative of the leadership and service of Mr. McIntosh during his years at LDHS and we wish him well in his new position.”
