Clinton City Council was informed at their meeting yesterday that one of the city’s two commercial grass mowers caught fire last month and was damaged beyond repair.
City Manager Frank Stovall told council that the Hustler zero radius turn mower was being used to mow along the right of way inside Clinton’s Phase III Corporate Park when the incident occurred. He told council that money had been set aside in the current year’s budget to purchase a third mower and recommended that this money be diverted to replace the mower destroyed last month. He said the city could wait until a later date to add a third mower.
The city did advertise for bids and only one bid was received. King Outdoor of Clinton submitted a bid of $7,854.77 for a new Hustler zero radius turn mower. He recommended that council accept that bid and authorize purchase of the mower.
After deliberations council voted unanimously to approve the City Manager’s recommendation.
