Catching Up on Local sports:
- The CHS cross country team participated in a 6-way meet yesterday @ Chapman.. The boys team finished 2nd behind a strong Landrum team. Landrum had a 29 while Clinton finished with a 54.. Other boys team scores were: Woodruff 80, Chapman 112, Broome 120,& Union 149. (Remember, like golf low score wins)…. - Now back on Tuesday, the CHS tennis team traveled to Union and came away with a 7-0 win.. For details on this match, check out the posting at www.chsathletics.com .
- The Lady Red Devil tennis team did not fare quite as well as they fell 4-3 to Christ Church.. Picking up wins for them were Gracie Waldron, Delayna Burroughs and the doubles team of Brooke Foster & Maggie O’Shields…Click on the following for more match details: CLINTON HIGH TENNIS 9-26-12
- Meanwhile at LDHS, The Lady Raider Golf Team Traveled to Ware Shoals in a non-region match and defeated the Lady Hornets 192-222.. Katie Patterson was match medalist with a 43.. See the Laurens Lady Raider Tennis posting in the Schedules section on our website.
- There was also 1 middle school football game held yesterday.. The Laurens Middle School Tigers remained undefeated as they defeated Honea Path 34-6 LMS yesterday… The Tigers were led by DQ Floyd and Brayln McBeth who both had 2 TDs… Jalyn Walker also added a TD… The LMS Tigers now have a 3-0 record.
In action at the Laurens County Speedway last Saturday night:
- Late Model Series: Billy Rushton won the main event taking his 2nd points title in four seasons… Larry Timms was second, and Frankie Coates 3rd.
- Hobby: Dan Lawson took the checkered flag in the main event… Clark Smith and Bruce Bishop rounded out the top three.
- Super Stock 4: Kevin Cooper, Scott Nelson and Michael Simmons where the top 3 finishers in that order.
- The Limited Late-Model: Mac Owens finished 1st ahead of Brad Rachels and Danny Howell.
- Front Wheel Drive: Bill Baker finished 1st with Travis Jamison coming in 2nd & Megan Templeton 3rd.
Pros:
- Atlanta Braves: the Braves picked up their 4th win in a row as they defeated the Marlins 3-0 last night down in Atlanta… Martín Prado led the Braves going 2 for 4 with a solo homer… The Braves and Marlins finished their series in Atlanta tonight.
