The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office charged four people with Methamphetamine Manufacture or Possession with Intent following the early morning raid on an alleged Meth lab in the Green Pond community. Deputies were dispatched to 129 Pasture Drive at 4:04 am on a report of suspicious activity. The unidentified caller reported hearing people yelling, seeing cars traveling in and out of the residence, and noted a chemical smell in the area.
On arrival at the suspect location, Deputy John Carter reported observing a light on at a shed in back of the residence. Deputies also observed the chemical smell in the area, as well as the smell of something burned. Deputies reported observing what appeared to be an active meth lab in operation in plain view in the shed. Subjects at the scene were taken into custody. Officers reportedly seized baggies containing pills, what appeared to be methamphetamine, as well as a baggy of marijuana from one of the subjects.
A 7-year-old female was found asleep inside the residence. DSS was notified and took emergency protective custody of the child.
Four adults at the scene were placed in the county detention center, including two who lived at the location.
Charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and Illegal Possession of Alprazolam were 27-year-old Jennifer Diane Simmons, also known as Jenna Simmons, and 30-year-old Homer Steve Simmons Jr, also known as “Jody.” Both were residents of 129 Pasture Drive,Gray Court. Jennifer Simmons was also charged with Child Neglect for allegedly placing her minor child at unreasonable risk of harm at her residence yesterday.
Also arrested at the alleged Meth Lab on Pasture Drive yesterday morning were 21-year-old Christopher Paul “Chris” McCord of 125 Barnyard Road,Gray Court and 43-year-old Stephen Farrell “Buck” McElrath of 428 Allen Bridge Road, Fountain Inn.
Chris McCord was charged with Manufacture of Methamphetamine and Illegal Disposal of Methamphetamine Waste. Warrants state he was at the Pasture Drive location where there were items used in the Manufacture of Methamphetamine, and that he illegally disposed of waste from the process.
Buck McElrath was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and with Possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, Alprazolam. A ticket was also issued charging McElrath with Simple Possession of Marijuana as of 4:33 yesterday morning.
All four subjects remained in theLaurensCountyDetentionCenterthis morning.
