Squealin’ on the Square is back for another exciting two-day BBQ Festival in Downtown Laurens. Music begins at 4 this afternoon with Mile Marker Zero, followed by Blues Great Mac Arnold tonight from 7 until 9.
Festival Co-Chair John Young talks with us about the big line-up of live music on stage Saturday:
“Tomorrow we’re going to have all sorts of music. We’ve got Three Days Leave, which his a local Christian band, that’s going to be performing at 10 o’clock until 12. And then from 12 to 2 we’ve got a kind of a rock’n’roll band called Vinyl. They’re going to have some very talented musicians….I’m told some from California is going to be here….Oldies Rock ‘n Roll. And then from 2 until 4 we’ve got Laurens County’s own Outshyne …performing. I think everybody’s familiar with Outshyne. And then finally, starting at 7 o’clock at the Amphitheater we’re gonna have the Flashbacks. They’re going to be performing for us right before the fireworks.”
Festival Co-Chair Dale Satterfield said one of his favorite parts of the festival is the ‘Down on the Farm’ area tomorrow:
“We’re going to begin with the Antique Tractor show that begins at 8 o’clock. Then at 11 o’clock we’re going to do the Parade of Power, one of my favorites, where you see all the antique tractors coming down the streets. If you’ve got an old tractor that you’re going to restore, please bring it, because we have the Ugliest Tractor contest as well. Also Down on the Farm, we’re gonna be having the dance teams down there doing their routines. There’s going to be games down there for the kids. They’ll be a Petting Zoo… all kinds of stuff. The Fire department will be down there with their trucks and equipment so it will be a fun time for kids as well.”
BBQ Food Sales were to start today at Noon.
