Voter Registration Deadline

Thousands of South Carolinians are registering to Vote On-line as the October 6th registration deadline nears. In less than 24 hours, more than 3,000 voters took advantage of South Carolina’s new online voter registration system.  The system was made available to the public at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and by 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, 3,102 applications had been submitted.

The State Election Commission reminds everyone of tomorrow’s voter registration deadline and urged those already registered to update their information. You must be registered by October 6th to vote in the November 6th General Election. Voters who have moved from one county to another must be registered to vote in their new county by the deadline.    You can find the 2012 General Election Voter Checklist, voter information brochures, voter registration posters, and more on the home page at scVOTES.org.

If you want to be sure you’re properly registered in person, you must get by the Laurens County Election Commission office today from 9 to 5. The office is on the ground floor of the Historic Laurens County Courthouse, on the Laurens Square.

In addition, Laurens County Elections Director Lynne West will be in the big H.A.V.A. bus – set up by the Help America Vote Act. She’ll be doing voter registration from Squealin’ on the Square Downtown Laurens Saturday, the final deadline for the November 6th Elections.
