Three people were being held for charges in theLaurensCountyDetentionCenterthis morning after their arrest as the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office recovered a car that was allegedly stolen from a location in Simpsonville.
Deputies were in the “Mini-Farms” area of the Green Pond Community at 9:50 last night on information the stolen Toyota Sequoia could be found there. Lt. Keith McIntosh spotted the car headed toward Lt. Marlon Higgenbotham and alerted him of the approach. Higgenbotham observed the vehicle turn off Tractor Drive onto a gravel driveway that ran between some vacant mobile homes and gave pursuit. He was assisted by Deputy Edwards who came on the gravel drive from Wham Lawn Road.
A female passenger of the car reportedly attempted to walk from the vehicle but was arrested nearby. 23-year-old Macie Marie Byars of 120 Barnyard Court,Gray Court was being held for charges of Receiving Stolen Goods.
The apparent driver fled from the car on foot, and sight of him was lost as he entered some nearby woods; however, he was captured around 1:30 this morning when deputies located him at a residence on Barnyard Road. 20-year-old Daniel Vaughn of 108 Weston Road, Fountain Inn was also placed in the Laurens County Detention Center, also awaiting a warrant to charge him with Receiving Stolen Goods. He is also subject to Vehicle Theft charges from Simpsonville City Police.
A male passenger of the Toyota had reportedly been dropped of at a house in the area a few minutes before the car was stopped by deputies. 20-year-old Cody Shaine Northern of 176 Aquarius Drive,Gray Court was being held for charges of Receiving Stolen Goods.
The $12,000 value stolen Toyota was returned to its owner overnight.
