Laurens City Police yesterday made an arrest in two forgery cases. 41-year-old James Michael “Shorty” Samples was booked as a homeless man from Laurens, charged with Two Counts of Forgery. Detective Leann Riggott states that Mr. Samples forged a woman’s signature on a check for $350 and presented it October 1st at First Citizens Bank on West Main Street The detective states that Samples forged a signature and presented another check for $350 on the same woman’s account at the same bank on October 5th. James Michael “Shorty” Samples was being held in theLaurensCountyDetentionCenter for a bond hearing on the two Forgery charges today.
