Clinton Boys Finish 9th in State AAA Meet

The CHS Boys Cross Country Team finished 9th out of 24 teams competing in the AAA State Championship Meet in Columbia on Saturday, November 3, 2012. This is the highest finish ever for a Red Devil cross country team.

Coach Lee Atkinson stated, “The boys ran strong today. I am very proud of them. I am glad that the team saw how big this meet was and got to experience it. They are already thinking of the possibilities for next year as we return 6 of our seven runners, Aaron Dover lone senior. We saw the elite runners in the state. They are running their 5ks (3.1 miles) in 15 -16 minutes. We are running ours in the 17-18 minutes. We know what we have to do if we want to be able to compete with Daniel and Hilton Head next year. It was a fantastic year. County Championship, 1st ever Region Championship, (was not beaten by a region opponent all year) 5th place finish in Upper State, 2nd State Meet berth for the boys team ever, 9th place finish in state…what a year.

I want to thank my assistant Coach Paige Ward and our Timers/ Parents Kevin Nobles, Haskell Patterson, and Charlie Roland”

Chris Patterson had the best time for Clinton completing the course in 17:23.52.
