The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an address in the 23,000 range of Highway 221 North at 9 minutes until midnight last night on a suspicious person report. On arrival, Deputy Brent Rushing and Sgt. Robert Timmons reportedly observed a man sitting on the back deck area with his arms inside his shirt. When asked if he lived there, he said no. When asked where he lives, the man allegedly replied “at 106 (xxx) you Road.” At that point, the man was taken into arrest and placed in the Johnson Detention Center. 28-year-old Robert Paul Maes of 114 Miracle Drive, Laurens was charged with Public Disorderly Conduct as of 12:23 this morning. At the detention center, he was also served with two Bench Warrants, citing convictions November 12th on charges of Giving False Information to law enforcement, fire or rescue. Sentences were set at 30 days in jail or a $470 fine on those convictions. Mr. Maes was being held in the county detention center this morning.
