Charge is Elevated from Domestic Assault

Domestic Violence Charges on a Clinton man have been elevated, after injuries were determined to be more serious that initially thought. Clinton Public Service arrested

22-year-old Christopher Lee “Chris” Couey of Lot 4, Oakland Trailer Park, Clinton at 10:36 Wednesday night on charges of Criminal Domestic Violence and Disorderly Conduct. He was accused of hitting his live-in girlfriend on the left side of her jaw with his fist, causing a laceration. The charges have since been elevated to Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature because after medical treatment it was determined that the extent of injury to the victim was greater than initially considered. The warrant states the subject and victim live together and have a child in common.

In addition to the $30,000 bond on the domestic violence charge, a $262 bond was set on the Disorderly Conduct offense. Chris Couey remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
