Laurens County Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Johnson was dispatched to Bal Harbor Drive, Ware Shoals at 3:52 yesterday afternoon, where a 60-year-old man was lying on the ground in the street outside his home.EMSwas tending to the man when the officer arrived. A witness indicated the man had attempted to talk with another man from the neighborhood, that both had been arguing for a couple of months. The witness indicated the other man struck the victim with the front driver’s side of his SUV. Meanwhile, the man listed as a suspect came to the Sheriff’s Office, reportedly saying he was there to write a statement that he had not hit anyone with his SUV. He reportedly indicated he saw the victim in the street wanting to talk, but he needed to hurry to the bank and didn’t want to talk then; that he drove around the other man to leave. After investigating, Deputy Johnson arrested 29-year-old Timothy Rea “Timmy” Wells of 715 Bal Harbor Drive, Ware Shoals and placed him in the Johnson Detention Center. He was being held for charges in a warrant to be sought in a case noted as Aggravated Assault.
