Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols yesterday identified the body of a man found in the remains of a Waterloo brush fire this weekend. Nichols said the remains were those of 49-year-old Eddie Arthur Medlin, who lived at 771 Flymm Smith Road,Waterloo. Laurens County Deputies were called Saturday afternoon when someone driving on Flymm Smith Road observed a body in the flames of a brush fire and called 911. Nichols said an autopsy conducted yesterday confirmed the remains were those of Eddie Arthur Medlin. Nichols said there were no apparent wounds to Mr. Medlin other than the thermal burns, and that he did not die of smoke inhalation. The Coroner said that a determination for the cause of death will made after a toxicology report is received.
Nick Nichols said the time of death for Eddie Arthur Medlin is estimated at 4:15 Saturday afternoon.
