The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday morning responded to a Burglary in progress in the Gray Court area in which an elderly resident was at home. She escaped through the rear exit of the home and called for help. Investigators responded to the incident location and gave out the description of the suspects and the vehicle involved. Other deputies and investigators began to look for houses that fit a similar description as the one the burglars had chosen. Then, Sheriff’s Investigators found a suspicious vehicle fitting the description at a residence on highway 101 South, and knew the vehicle didn’t belong at the residence. The vehicle began to speed from the house, but two suspects were seen inside the home. A brief foot pursuit of the suspects ensued. Later, another resident on Ballenger Road in Laurens County returned home at noon to find their home had also been burglarized.
Lt. Jawarski Shelton noted someone had gone through the Ballenger Road residence pulling items from underneath the beds. Stolen items included a television, lap-top computer and a black light. Total value of stolen items from that home was estimated at $2,770.
The evidence at the scene led officers to the same suspects as well. The Sherriff’s office was able to arrest two subjects yesterday. 20-year-old Jahquan Peterson from Irmo, and 19-year-old Carlton B. “CJ” Gregory Jr. of Irmo were both held with to be charged with two counts of first degree burglary, use of a weapon during a violent crime, second degree burglary, and grand larceny. More arrests are to follow in the ongoing investigation by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Section. Sheriff Ricky Chastain told WLBG that they’re looking for a female driver of the vehicle involved. If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 864-68CRIME or Laurens County Sheriff’s Office at 864-984-4967.
