Two Men Accused of Helping Woman Avoid Arrest

   A young Greenwood County woman was in the Laurens County Detention Center overnight, having been arrested by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and served with a Bench Warrant. Two Waterloo area men were also being held for allegedly hindering the young woman’s arrest yesterday.

  22-year-old Shelby Dawn Briley of 2606 Highway 246, Ninety-Six was served with a Bench Warrant issued November 12th by Judge Tommy Copeland that cites an October 25th, 2012 conviction in Magistrate’s Court of Unlawful Use of a Telephone. Judge Copeland imposed a sentence of thirty days or $470.

  Two thirty-year-oldWaterloo men were being held overnight on charges of hindering a lawful arrest by the Sheriff’s Office. Shawn Michael Gamble of 350 Harbor Crest Drive,Waterloo and Samuel Jose “Sammy” Demattos III of 416 Enchanted Oaks Drive,Waterloo were each charged in warrants with hindering, preventing and obstructing a deputy charged with the execution of a warrant. They’re accused of assisting Shelby Briley in avoiding arrest by deputies.

  Furthermore, Shawn Michael Gamble is also charged with Threatening the Life of a Public Official yesterday. A warrant states that Gamble threatened the life or serious bodily injury to the victim and/or victim’s family and was directly related to the victim’s professional responsibilities.

  Both thirty-year-oldWaterloomen were being held for arraignment on the charges today.
