Earlier this Christmas Season, someone stole three inflatable Christmas decorations from a display at the Hickory Tavern Fire Department. This week, the Christmas Lights were struck again, this time with an estimated $700 in damage from vandalism. Deputy Devin Hodges was dispatched on the case at 9:45 Wednesday night, after reports of the vandalism since 9pm that night. Several witnesses reportedly identified a suspect in the vandalism of the Christmas light display, and the deputy located the suspect and talked with him. The 24-year-old Hickory Tavern man reportedly admitted to destroying the lights. Fire Department personnel did not want to prosecute the suspect, and signed a Stop Investigation form. The suspect was, however, served with a no trespass notice.
