Two Charged with Driving Violations After Party

    Clinton Public Safety Sgt. Cathy Anderson was on routine patrol headed west on US 76 just after 1 am Christmas Morning when she reportedly observed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed that clocked 55 miles per hour in the 35 mile per hour zone. She turned around and approached the vehicle, observing it make a right turn onto Tribble Street as she was catching up to the vehicle. A woman reportedly behind the steering wheel said she had never been in trouble and lived onTribble Street, and please just let her go on home. She reportedly failed a Sobriety test and reportedly began to fight with the officer attempting to place her under arrest for Driving under the Influence. She indicated she had been at a Christmas Party in Clinton Manor. A man who was a rear-seat passenger reportedly got out of the vehicle and ran across US 76. Another Officer was dispatched and placed him in detention. A front seat passenger reportedly slipped under the wheel and claimed he was driving.

  The woman who was reportedly under the steering wheel onTribble Street, 42-year-old Cindy Lou Williams of1256 South Bell Street,Clinton, was charged with Driving Under the Influence and Resisting Arrest. She was released later in the day on Personal Recognizance bonds totaling $1,522. The man who indicated he had been driving on US 76, 45-year-old Terry Bernard Anderson of138 Houston Street, Laurens, was charged with Driving Too Fast for Conditions and an Open Container Violation. He was also charged with Being a Habitual Offender. He was released later in the day on Personal Recognizance Bonds of $5,000 on the Habitual Offender charge and just over $400 on the Driving Too Fast and Open Container citations. The rear seat passenger, 26-year-old Ontario Kendrell Godfrey of2090 Havendale Drive, Fountain Inn, was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. He was released later Christmas Day on Personal Recognizance Bonds totaling $762.50.
