Laurens County Deputy Sheriff Michael Crockett was dispatched to Apple Orchard Road south of Clinton at 9:13 last night on a report of an assault. Tensions were reportedly high between a woman and her nephew, who had been living at her residence for several months. Apparently the incident began when the 19-year-old nephew came home and became upset on finding garbage in the yard and in the house. An argument escalated to the point that the nephew allegedly put his hands around his aunt’s neck.
The man was placed in investigative detention. While at first wanting him charged, the woman said she didn’t want him arrested, but did want him out of her house. Since this was his current established residence, the woman was given an explanation of the legal process for having him evicted. No charges were being filed.
