College Notes:

Clemson 25 – LSU 24:

Well the Tigers did it and I do mean the Pickens County, SC version… They took a 25-24 upset win over the LSU Tigers.. Things did not look good for the Tigers at first as Sammy Watkins went down injured on the 2nd play of the game and turned the ball over to LSU who promptly turned it into points.. To their credit, Tahj Boyd & company responded to tie the game… Clemson was down 24-13 going into the final period but the Tigers responded with 12 unanswered points in the final period for the win.. Clemson’s last TD came with 2:47 left in the game to make the score 24-22 LSU.. The 2-point point attempt failed and then Clemson’s defense did what it had done 7 other times on the night as they forced LSU to go 3 and out setting the stage for the final Clemson drive… Couple of big plays in the drive but none bigger than the 4th and 16 completion from Boyd to DeAndre Hopkins to keep the drive alive.. The final play was a 37 yard field goal by Chandler Cantanzaro for the win as the clock ran down to zero.. DeAndre Hopkins had a Chick-Fil-A Bowl record 190 yards receiving and Tahj Boyd was the player of the game.. The win gives Clemson its first 11 win season in 31 years going all the way back to 1981… Congratulations to the Tigers – the Pickens County variety that is.
