Man Alleges Armed Robbery Attempt

Laurens Police investigated a reported robbery on Truman Street yesterday. Just before 9am a 59-year-old Laurens man reported he was on Truman Street around 6am yesterday looking for his girlfriend, and said he went to a man’s house on that street because that’s where he thought she might be located. He indicated another man was at the house, and that when he left the Truman Street house walking toward Stuart Street that other man followed him on Truman. He alleged that man pulled a gun on him and told him to give him his money. He indicated he was able to get him to put the gun away by telling him he didn’t want to do this. When he thought it was over they started walking on further when he then felt the other man hit him. He said he tried to fight back when he felt another person grab his wallet from his pants. He said he tried to chase them as they ran away with his wallet, but lost sight of them around the church at the end of Truman Street. Then man said he went to his residence and called the police.  He reported his wallet containing $130 was taken.
