A Greenville woman was being held for drug charges after her arrest yesterday afternoon on a Shoplifting charge. Laurens City Police Sgt. David Brewer was dispatched to Wal-Mart at 3:20 pm on a shoplifting report. Police were given a description of a vehicle that had left the scene. They were informed that a green Ford Ranger matching the suspect vehicle was located on Hardin Road. A suspect was located and taken back to the store, where she was accused of giving a jacket to another subject to take out of the store without paying for it. 19-year-old Patricia Marie Howard of 13 Gurley Avenue, Greenville was placed in the Johnson Detention Center for a Shoplifting charge. A jacket and boots valued at $69 were reportedly seized from the suspect. Sgt. Brewer also reportedly seized around one gram of methamphetamines from the suspect, and a Possession of Methamphetamine charge was pending a warrant to be obtained.
Patricia Howard was also being held in the Johnson Detention Center for Greenville County.
A police report identified a 24-year-old Simpsonville man as a second suspect in the Shoplifting, but he was not arrested by Laurens Police as of last night.
Sgt. Brewer also noted finding four book bags and a luggage bag containing lots of clothing, drugs, personal items, various paper and documents displaying other names on them. Four cell phones were also noted in the defendant’s possession. Pictures were taken of the bags and the items they contained.
