You’ve no doubt noted a longstanding law enforcement slogan of officers being here ‘to protect and serve.’ Sometimes, checking on someone’s welfare can lead to an arrest, however. Clinton Public Safety Sgt. Casey Jones was on routine patrol on foot at the Pilot Travel Center on Highway 56 at Interstate 26 at 1:20 early Saturday morning when he reportedly encountered a man who was lethargic and a woman who was acting jittery in the store as they talked with the officer. After they left the store, the officer was concerned, observing the man slump in the car, and investigated further. He reportedly found baggies with methamphetamine that the man reportedly indicated was his.
47-year-old David Pierce Robinson of 113 Rogada Drive, Clinton was arrested at 1:40 am charged with Drug Paraphernalia, and also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. He was released from City Jail later on personal recognizance bonds of $628 on the Paraphernalia charge and $5,000 on the possession charge.
19-year-old Regina Elaine Eubanks of 200 Elizabeth, A-1, Clinton was charged with Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance. She is accused of being in possession of a blue oval-shaped pill believed to be Alphazolam early Saturday morning at the Pilot Travel Center on Highway 56 North.
She was placed in the Johnson Detention Center, then released Sunday on posting of $5,000 surety bond.
