Hang-Up 911 Call Leads to Two Drug Arrests

Laurens County Sheriff Officers were dispatched to a location on US 221 North at 2:53 Friday morning on a 911 hang-up call from a cell phone. On arrival, Deputy Johnston noted a vehicle with headlights containing two subjects. A subject in the vehicle reportedly initially gave a false name when asked who he was. 52-year-old Robert Montgomery of 27618 Highway 221 North was charged with Distribution of Crack Cocaine and with Giving False Information. A warrant alleges that on January 4th Robert Montgomery did possess with intent to distribute over one gram of a schedule II controlled substance. Another warrant states that on January 4th Robert Montgomery did knowingly and willingly give false information to a Deputy with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. Cash or Surety Bonds were set this weekend including $20,000 on the Crack Cocaine Distribution charge and $470 on the False Information charge. Robert Montgomery remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.

A second subject had reportedly fled initially.

Deputies were able to arrest a second suspect from the scene. 40-year-old Derrick Lamont Styles of 1100 Two Mile Creek Road, Enoree was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, and also served with a General Sessions Court Bench Warrant charging him with failure to appear in court on December 7th 2012 on a Burglary 2nd Degree charge.

A $20,000 bond was set on the drug possession charge. Derrick Styles was also being held in the Laurens County Detention Center for Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, which indicates it has a Family Court Bench Warrant for his arrest.
