Man Charged with “Forcible Fondling”

  Laurens City Police arrested a man early Sunday morning following an incident allegedly involving unwanted contact with a woman of the same apartment complex he lives in. We understand that both the alleged male perpetrator and the female victim are mentally challenged adults living in apartments on Church Street. The man, in his early 40’s, was charged with Forcible Fondling and with Breach of Peace. He is accused of assaulting a woman in another apartment on Church Street Saturday, January 5th by rubbing his genitals on the victim’s buttocks through clothing in an unwanted sexual manner. He was issued a ticket charging Breach of Peace at 12:19 am Sunday on Church Street. During arraignment this weekend, a $10,000 bond was set on the Forcible Fondling charge, and another $262 bond was set on the Breach of Peace charge. The man remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
