Laurens City Police Sgt. Shane Martin was on patrol ten minutes before noon yesterday when he reportedly observed an open door at an old industrial building at 304 Powerline Drive. Further investigation indicated it had been kicked open. Checking out the location, it appeared that an unknown person had been discharging fire extinguishers and driving a fork lift around inside the building. A few machines and a brick wall had been damaged by the fork lift. The same shoe that kicked in the door also left footprints throughout the building. These were being analyzed in a search for the person who forcibly entered the structure and caused the damage inside.
