Laurens City Police arrested a Newberry County resident yesterday on charges of presenting a forged check on Fleming Street in Laurens one year ago. 27-year-old Pemedrias Lectrell Kirkland of 802 Bundrick Road, Pomeria was charged with Forgery. Laurens Police Detective Leann Riggott states that the defendant forged, published and presented a counterfeit check in the amount of $481.32 on Columbia Farms between January 11th and 12th of 2012. Pemedrian Kirkland was being held overnight, pending arraignment on the Laurens Forgery charge this morning. Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s office also received a notice from Saluda Police to hold Mr. Kirkland for a Forgery charge they have for him, as well.
