The newest United States Senator from South Carolina is to be in Laurens County next week. Laurens County Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Office Greg Alexander has announced that Senator Tim Scott is to be the Keynote Speaker for the 35th Annual Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on January 17th.
Alexander told WLBG News the chamber is proud to be able to provide the newly installed United States Senator one of his first formal opportunities to meet folks here in the Upstate in his new role.
Senator Scott’s previous public offices were US Congressman from the low country and prior to that, tenure on Charleston County Council.
Greg Alexander said that while selling fast, tickets remained available today at $50 per person, which includes the Banquet and a wine and cheese reception held prior to the dinner. Tickets are available with a call to the Chamber at 833-2716.
The event will be held again this year at Presbyterian College, set for Thursday, January 17th.
A number of awards will be presented by the chamber, from Citizenship citations to Chamber volunteer awards.
The chamber has recently released the names of twelve outstanding High School students from Laurens and Clinton High Schools and Laurens Academy who are finalists for this year’s Cecil Davenport Good Citizenship Award.
