A Greenwood woman was sentenced on Social Security Fraud yesterday in Federal Court. United States Attorney Bill Nettles stated that 40-year-old Alicia Kelly of Greenwood was sentenced to just under a year incarceration by United States District Judge Timothy M. Cain in Federal Court proceedings in Anderson. Kelly is to spend ten months in jail followed by three years supervised release, $100 special assessment; and she is to provide restitution of $18,315.
Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing established that Kelly concealed the death of her grandfather for over a year while continuing to obtain and use his social security benefits.
