Man Allegedly Caught Carrying “Meth Lab” Items

Laurens County Sheriff’s Corporal Christy Johnson was assisting a United States Marshall in Joanna around 3 Tuesday afternoon looking for a man wanted on Federal Charges when they received information the man they were looking for was at a residence on Marion Street. The home owner let them inside, where they talked with one woman who said the man they were looking for was her boyfriend. She thought he had left the house. Meanwhile, officers detected movement and located a subject apparently trying to flee the house carrying a book bag. He was identified as someone other than the man wanted on federal charges. The women from the house said the book bag was not theirs. The man carrying it reportedly said the bag’s owner had asked him to bring it for him. Officers reported finding a bottle that appeared to have been used as a methamphetamine generator along with some meth residue inside the bag as well as some Red Devil Lye. The man was placed in the Johnson Detention Center, pending charges. 29-year-old Demetric Chantrone Conner of 28941 US Highway 76, Kinards was charged yesterday with Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Unlawful Disposal. He is accused of manufacture of methamphetamine and Illegal Disposal of Methamphetamine waste on Tuesday, January 15th in Laurens County. Bonds were set totaling $20,000 on the two charges. Demetric Conner remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
