A new wing of the Laurens County Hospital is ready to go into service, providing expanded and enhanced facilities for emergency services and a new women’s health center. However, it still sits unused, awaiting approval by DHEC. Hospital CEO Rich D’Alberto told the local hospital board last night that the construction is compliant with plans approved by DHEC, but that inspectors have changed the parameters during inspections. D’Alberto said he plans to meet with the new DHEC Director during his visit to Columbia today and discuss the issue. He was to be in Columbia today regarding his taking over as Chair of the Board for the South Carolina Hospital Association.
