The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a location in the 33,600 address range of Highway 76 East in the Kinards area at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon after a man found an old war relic in his well house. Lt. Plaxico confirmed the item was, in fact, a mortar and contacted the State Law Enforcement Division. The Mortar appeared to be from the World War II era, according to one source. SLED came to the location and took possession of the mortar.
