Resisting Arrest….Again?

Laurens City Police Detective Sgt. Leann Riggott was on East Main at a traffic light at 10:45 yesterday morning when a small white pickup passed by going east. She knew a passenger in the truck was wanted for a warrant, had reportedly stated he would turn himself in last week. She followed the truck into the Subway parking lot and attempted to block the subject from escape. Detective Riggott then told 35-year-old Jessie James Mims that he was under arrest. He allegedly pulled away from the officer and jumped over the hood of her car and ran toward Belk’s. Detective Riggott followed in her car through the parking lot,  then he reportedly ran down an alley to behind the Belk store. He reportedly attempted to flee down a gully toward woods, going up to a fence. Sgt. David Brewer joined in the pursuit and took Mr. Mims into custody. A search reportedly located two syringes and a plastic spoon and a clear baggy with methamphetamine residue. 35-year-old Jessie James Mims of 118 Mockingbird Lane, Laurens was placed in the Johnson Detention Center, where he was being held for warrants to charge him with Possession of Methamphetamine and with Resisting Arrest. A police report notes that Mims was free on bond for a previous arrest on drug charges as well as resisting arrest.
