Search Warrant Executed, Multiple Charges Follow

 

 

   Laurens City Police arrested a man on multiple drug charges after executing a search warrant at his home yesterday morning. 30-year-old Michael Anderson of 138 Oakland Heights, Laurens was charged with Third Offense Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Third Offense Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, plus two counts of Possession with intent within proximity of a school and a 5th charge for Possession of a Pistol by a Person Convicted of a Violent Crime.

  Detective Walter Bentley states that Anderson had a quantity of marijuana and a quantity of crack cocaine in his possession, as well as scales and baggies which are used in the distribution of illegal narcotics. This was allegedly discovered during execution of a search warrant on Anderson’s home at 138 Oakland Heights. The Detective states the defendant has multiple prior drug convictions. That home is within a half mile of a day care operation at the Laurens YMCA. Detective Bentley further states that the Michael Anderson had in his possession yesterday two pistols that were found during execution of the search warrant at his home. The detective notes a conviction of Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature, defined as a crime of violence, which prohibits him from owning firearms.

  Bonds on the five charges totaled $90,000. Michael Anderson remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
