This is the final day for turning in “Bags of Love” that are going to be delivered to Laurens County Seniors along with Meals on Wheels next Wednesday. The annual event marks the Valentines season with a show of love to many local residents who live alone and are not able to get out and socialize with others as most people can. The bags that are being put together by various people across the county must be turned in today to Senior Options on Professional Park Drive or to the United Way Office in Clinton.
Today is also the deadline for local citizens to sign up for a breakfast presentation next Wednesday morning at the Laurens County Higher Education Center. Rich D’Alberto, CEO of the Laurens County Health Care System and now also President of the South Carolina Hospital Association, is going to deliver an analysis of why he believes South Carolina should not reject the expansion of Medicaid in South Carolina, as the Governor and many legislators intend. D’Alberto will present his belief that the infusion of federal funds through the expansion will provide better health care to uninsured and will generate additional tax revenue to cover the state’s cost of the expansion. Persons who wish to attend need to call 864-833-9151 during business hours today.
