Man Charged with Kidnapping, Assaulting Woman

   A Waterloo woman who had come to help a Laurens area man clean up his residence was reportedly held and assaulted by him on Friday. A report to the Sheriff’s office indicates the victim had gone to the residence to help the man clean up in preparation for a DSS visit. After they had a disagreement, the man reportedly got very upset and began pulling her hair and would not let her leave. Deputy Thomason arrested 32-year-old Michael John “Mike” Tehonica of 852 Highway 252, Laurens and charged him with Assault and Battery 3rd Degree and with Kidnapping. Warrants state that on February 15th Michael John Tehonica did hit, kick and pull the hair of a victim, causing swelling and bruising to her face, neck and back. He is also accused of unlawfully confining her at his residence on that date. Bonds were set at $2,000 on the assault and $25,000 on the kidnapping charge. Mike Tehonica remained in the Johnson Detention Center earlier today.
