School District 55 Receives Potential Security Threat

Laurens School District 55 released the following Press Release at 8:30pm Thursday evening:

Laurens County School District 55 personnel received a potential security threat Thursday evening after school. Because school safety is of highest priority, all possible security threats are taken seriously and are investigated.   

At this time District 55 is working with Sheriff Ricky Chastain, Interim Chief Chrissie Cofield, the Clinton Department of Public Safety, SLED, and Laurens County School District 56. 

Law enforcement is diligently investigating this incident and will be increasing officer presence at every school in the district to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

Schools will operate under normal hours on Friday.
