Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana

Laurens Police Officers were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on Conway Avenue early this morning when a white Chevrolet Impala approached at 12:40 am. The driver and sole occupant reportedly handed police a beginner’s permit. Sgt. Joey Pittman advised him he was not supposed to be driving on the permit without a licensed driver in the car with him. The driver reportedly acknowledged this, but said he was only driving home. Sgt. Pittman noted a strong smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and asked if there was any marijuana inside. After first saying no, the man reportedly indicated “I have around seven grams in the trunk.” He was placed in investigative detention.
The officer reportedly located a black bag and discovered two glass jars containing a green leafy substance. The bag also allegedly contained several small plastic bags typically used in packaging narcotics and a digital scale. The confiscated marijuana reportedly weighed in at 36 grams. 22-year-old Randall Sherodrick Moore of 5312 Todd Quarter Road, Waterloo was arrested and placed in the Johnson Detention Center, to be charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. He was also charged with Violation of his Beginner’s Permit.
