Two men received drug charges overnight after being stopped by the Sheriff’s Office late last night. One also was charged with firearms violations. 23-year-old Terrance Lamar “Merek” Hunter of 628 Sullivan Street, Laurens was issued tickets at 11:45 last night at or near Smythe Street at Conway Avenue, charging him with not wearing a seat belt and with having an Open Container. He was then also charged in warrants with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession with Intent in Proximity of a school. Deputy T. W. Alexander states that on April 1st Terrance Lamar Hunter possessed marijuana with intent to distribute at a location within a half mile of Ford School.
Terrance Hunter was also charged with two firearms violation, with Deputy Alexander stating in warrants that he was a convicted felon in possession of a handgun at Smythe Street and Conway Avenue and that he had a handgun in his possession while not authorized to do so.
Also arrested last night was 26-year-old Rashad Deron Philson of 276 Blakeleyville Road, Clinton. He was also charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and with Possession with Intent within Proximity of Ford School.
Terrance “Merek” Hunter and Rashad Philson both remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning, pending arraignment on their charges later in the day.
