Clinton City Council may have been talking trash late yesterday during their work session, but Clinton Public Safety was dealing with a missing City Trash Container much earlier in the day. Sgt. Cathy Anderson was dispatched to investigate a hit-and-run on Jefferson Street at 4:31 yesterday morning, and reported arriving to observe tire marks that went southbound on Jefferson into the front yard of 400 Jefferson Street. The vehicle traveled onto the sidewalk then between the house and two cars that were parked in front of the house. The unknown vehicle struck the back left tail light of one vehicle. There were also marks in the road left by a city trash can that was apparently struck in the yard, then drug by the unknown vehicle. This path led south on Jefferson, then right onto Florence and then left onto Academy. The trash can was found on Florence Street. Damage from the hit-and-run was estimated at $400, including damage to Two City Trash cans and one Ford Windstar van.
