A chain saw stolen from the Town of Whitmire has been located in Clinton. Whitmire Police Chief Jeremiah Sinclair contacted Clinton Public Safety yesterday about locating the stolen chain saw at a pawn shop in town. Whoever took the chain saw reportedly first attempted to pawn it at a pawn shop in Newberry, but they wouldn’t take it because the saw had “Whitmire Fire Department, Station 2” engraved on it. This engraving had apparently been scratched off the chain saw before it was pawned in Clinton for $50. Charges were to be sought to charge the person pawning the chain saw with Obtaining Money under False Pretenses.
