Assault to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct

 A young Clinton man was arrested at 3am Monday and charged in connection with an alleged attempt to commit sexual battery on a woman Sunday. Clinton Public Safety Sgt. Cathy Anderson initially issued a ticket charging him with Simple Possession of Marijuana on Elm Street at Magnolia. 20-year-old Tyquis Syjuan Jenkins of 507 Elm Street, Clinton was then served with warrants charging him with Assault and Battery 2nd Degree and with Assault with Intent to commit Criminal Sexual Conduct in the third degree. These warrants allege that Mr. Jenkins assaulted the victim by grabbing her left breast without consent and with lewd and lascivious intent during the incident April 21st. He is also accused of pulling the victim’s pants down using physical force with intent to commit sexual battery. Bonds on the two charges were set yesterday totaling $25,000. Tyquis Syjuan Jenkins was transferred to the Johnson Detention Center yesterday, where he remained this morning.

 Clinton Public Safety had initially been dispatched on the case at 12:39 yesterday morning. An officer met with a woman who wanted to speak with a female officer.
