Clinton Woman Faces Multiple Charges

Clinton Public Safety arrested a local woman early yesterday morning on drug and traffic charges. Sgt. Cathy Anderson reportedly observed a small 4-door car stop at the stop sign at Stewart and Jefferson Streets and sit for awhile. It then suddenly sped off, so the officer followed due to the suspicious behavior. The vehicle eventually came to a stop on North Bell Extension. A check revealed the drivers’ license had been suspended for failure to pay traffic tickets. During further investigation, Sgt. Anderson reportedly discovered a small plastic baggie with a white powder substance and a straw with the same substance.  28-year-old Lacey Jean Williamson of 309 Beauregard Street, Clinton was initially ticketed for 2nd Offense Driving Under Suspension of her license and with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on Bell Street Extension at 2:40 yesterday morning. She was subsequently also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. Public Safety Officer Jeremy Marshall states that Lacy J. Williamson had methamphetamine in her possession yesterday in Clinton. Bonds on the Clinton charges were set totaling just under $5,000 and she was transferred to the Johnson Detention Center.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office also had charges for Ms. Williamson. The County served her with a Bench Warrant yesterday which cites a January 16, 2009 conviction on Driving an Uninsured Vehicle, with a sentence imposed of $360 or 30 days in jail.
