Laurens City Police were dispatched to Laurens Drug Store, 923 West Main on a report of an Armed Robbery in progress at 11:37 yesterday morning.
The dispatch indicated that a white female with a hoodie and a handgun had left the store in a light-colored Buick headed East on West Main Street. Officers proceeded in various directions in a search for the vehicle. A Citizen of Laurens who had seen what was going on was following the vehicle while calling dispatch and giving out the location, description and tag number of the vehicle. Police learned the vehicle had traveled out Church Street, then turned onto Lynn Avenue and then left onto Lakeview.
After the vehicle turned onto Ghost Creek Road, police took over the pursuit. They followed the vehicle onto Metric road and then Northbound on Interstate 385. The pursuit went through Fountain Inn and in Simpsonville the suspect vehicle took exit 27 at a high rate of speed and lost control, ending up in the grass to the left of the exit ramp. Two suspects were taken into custody. 42-year-old Carolyn April Millen, owner of the car, and 27-year-old Dominic Samuel “Nic” Gibbs, both of 110 Lakeview Drive, Summerville were questioned, then placed in the Johnson Detention Center.
A police report states that Nic Gibbs had a large pocket knife, and that they found a black plastic Beretta 8 mm BB gun in the front seat and two pill bottles on the ground where the subjects exited the car.
Both are also reportedly wanted by Mauldin Police for another drug store robbery there earlier in the morning. Mauldin Police joined Laurens officers in processing the vehicle. They reportedly found another plastic handgun and more pills. Four stolen bottles of Oxycodone were reportedly recovered.
Both Carolyn Millen and Nic Gibbs were being held for charges from Laurens and Mauldin Police. Gibbs was also being held for police in Monks Corner and for Probation Officers from Columbia.
