Man Charged with Assaults & Kidnapping

   Laurens County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Laurens man in connection with an alleged kidnapping and assault of a 19-year-old victim Sunday as well as with a domestic assault on his wife the same day. 33-year-old Jimmy Dale Maynard of 53 Caribou Drive, Laurens is charged with Kidnapping, Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and with Criminal Domestic Violence 2nd Offense.

  In warrants, Deputy Walter Summers states that an investigation by Lt. Marty Crain indicates that on June 9th the defendant kept the male victim from leaving the house on Caribou Drive and that he beat the victim about the head until the victim lost consciousness. It was further alleged that on June 9th Jimmy Dale Maynard caused physical harm or injury to his wife by striking her about the head. The warrant indicates that Mr. Maynard has a prior conviction for domestic violence, making this a 2nd Offense.

  Bonds were set totaling $40,000 on the three charges. Jimmy Maynard remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
