College Notes:

  • NC Super Regional…. The weather again caused the postponement of game 3 in the NC Super Regional yesterday… The game is now set for noon today and will be on ESPN2… One thing for sure, both teams should are now well rested and should have just about all their pitchers available in this game where the winner heads to Omaha and the loser goes home and packs up the gear until fall practice… If you cannot get to a TV, have your radio handy and catch all the action on Sports Radio 1410 WPCC.

Braves: Padres 7 – Braves 6…. The Braves opened a 3 game series with the Padres out in San Diego last night with a 7-6 loss to the Padres… The Braves were down 7-2 going into the top of the 9th inning when they got a 3-run pinch hit homerun from Evan Gattis and a solo homer from Jason Hayward to pull within a run falling just short on the comeback attempt.

Greenville Drive: The Drive played host to the Charleston RiverDogs last night at Flour Field in a pair of games.

  • Greenville 7 – Charleston 3… The first game yesterday afternoon was a completion of a weather suspended game down in Charleston last week and in that game the Drive took a 7-3 win…. The Drive scored 5 runs in the last 3 innings to take the win.
  • Greenville 1 – Charleston 0…  In the 7 inning nightcap of the doubleheader, the Drive took a 1-0 win over the RiverDogs… The two teams hitched up in a pitching duel where the Drive had only 6 hits and the RiverDogs had 4… The teams will have another double header today at Flour Field as they make up a game that was rained out in Charleston.. First game starts at 4:05.
