Laurens Police were conducting a license safety checkpoint on Conway Avenue at Clary Street at 12:30 this morning when they observed a Crown Victoria approach with three individuals inside. They reported observing a back seat passenger and the driver bending over towards the floor board. They also noted dark sunscreen without validation stickers on any of the windows. Due to the alleged suspicious behavior they asked to search the vehicle. Master Patrolman Patrick Craven and Officer Andrew Ashley reported finding a black Smith and Wesson 9 mm handgun barely tucked under the back seat. It was loaded with six rounds in the magazine. They then reportedly found a black Cobra .380 under the driver’s seat on the floor that was loaded with six rounds; five in the magazine and one round was in the chamber.
The driver, 21-year-old LaFrederick Martez Suber of 699 Boyd Road, Laurens, was arrested on charges of an Illegal Sunscreen violation and was held for a warrant to charge him with Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol. Suber is also reportedly known as “Fredrick,” “Fred,” and “Bank.” The back seat passenger, 26-year-old Travion Christeel Anderson of 101 Bland Drive, Laurens, was also placed in the Johnson Detention Center pending a warrant being obtained to charge him with Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol. Mr. Anderson is also reportedly known as “Christopher Boyd.”
