More arrests were made yesterday in connection with an altercation involving weapons southeast of Laurens on two dates this month and last. The Sheriff’s Office yesterday arrested 21-year-old Markemus Charmaine Mims of 306 Lurey Street, Laurens –also known as “M” – and 22-year-old Rashan Javarous Irby of 55 Gabriel Drive, Laurens – also known as “Hog.” Both Mims and Irby are charged with Two Counts of Pointing and Presenting a Weapon. They’re accused of pointing and presenting a firearm against another man May 31st on South Harper Extension and against the same man on Wynetta Street on June 1st. $15,000 bonds were set on each of the two charges for both men yesterday. Markemus “M” Mims and Rashan “Hog” Irby remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning with bonds totaling $30,000 each.
Mims was also served with a Bench Warrant from Laurens Municipal Court yesterday noting a sentence of 30 days or $620 for a Simple Possession of Marijuana conviction March 13th, 2013. Furthermore, Laurens City Detective Tony Lynch, who was assisting Deputies in arrested Markemum Mims at 10:30 yesterday morning, reported located the suspect in his bed in a back bedroom at 306 Lurey. During this arrest officers reportedly noticed a small quantity of marijuana along with a set of scales used to weigh the drugs. Lt. Shelton then obtained a consent to search from the subject’s mother and searched the room, where a quantity of ammunition was reportedly located and seized. That case was still under investigation.
The victim Mims and Irby are accused of pointing and presenting a firearm at was arrested Wednesday on Attempted Murder charges from a May 31st incident.
