Welcome this is your Real Radio 860 WLBG sports for a Friday and it’s brought to you by Presbyterian College Athletics… The Blue Hose football schedule this year includes 6 home games… The first is Sept. 7th as they host Brevard… The other home games are against Charlotte, VMI, Point University, Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb…. Little League Coaches All-Star Action… Laurens is hosting the district all-star tournament for 7-8 years old where the coaches pitch… Laurens and Wren both have 2 teams in the tournament… The Easley also has a team as well as a team made up of Abbeville-Greenwood all-stars. The action started last night and here are a couple of results:

  • Laurens Gold 12 – Wren Gold 2….  According to Coach Jason Pridgen, the whole team played great defense and he noted Jaeden Weathers and Conner Donley for their offensive and defensive effort.
  • Laurens Green 4 – Easley 1… Sorry no details here.

College Notes:

  • College World Series … The CWS starts tomorrow and the first game at 3:00 has Mississippi St. (48-14) taking on Oregon State (50-11)… The nigh cap at 8:00 pits Indiana (48-14) against Louisville (51-12)… All of these are bracket 1 games… Bracket 2 starts on Sunday at 3:00 with NC State (49-14) taking on North Carolina (57-10)… The last game at 8:00 on Sunday has UCLA (44-17) up against LSU (57-9)… Click on the following for the complete tournament bracket:2013 CWS Brackets


  • The Braves were off last night… They will open a home series with the San Francisco Giants at Turner Field.

Greenville Drive:

  • Savannah 9 – Greenville 4… The Drive travelled to Savannah last night to open up a 4 game series with the Sand Gnats… The Drive could not get their offense going until the 6th inning and by then they trailed 5-0… The Drive managed only 7 hits to Savannah’s 13… Two errors did not help their cause either.


  • Miami 109 – San Antonio 93… The Miami Heat tied the NBA finals at 2 games each as they defeated the San Antonio Spurs on 109-93… LeBron James and Dwayne Wade led the Heat with 33 and 32 points respectively… Game 5 will be in San Antonio Sunday at 8:00pm ET. 

Community Interest:

  • LDHS Girls Basketball Summer Workout… Head Girls basketball Coach Yoneko Washington will begin summer workouts Monday, June 17th… The workouts will take place in the main gym at LDHS from 3:30 to 5:30… The workouts are open to rising 7th-12th graders in this coming school year… Now you must have a copy of your physical form to compete… If you have any questions, contact Coach Washington at 864-876-6016
  • Tennis & Golf Camps at the Clinton YMCA…  Clinton High School Coach Clovis Simmons will be conducting a tennis camp at the Clinton YMCA for youth 4 and up on different times June 17th – 20th…  Information about times for the different age groups and costs are can be found in a posting in Featured Sports section at … Meanwhile Paul Young will lead a golf camp June 18-20 for youth ages 7-15…   Registration deadline is Friday June 14th at 5:00 pm for both of these camps so don’t delay… For more information contact the Clinton YMCA at 864-833-1555.
  • Clinton YMCA Sports Camps and Swimming Lessons… Also, be sure to check the Featured Sports section at for a list of all sports camps and swimming lesson schedules at
  • Laurens YMCA Pee Wee Sports and Football Camps… The Laurens YMCA will be holding a Pee Wee Sports camp for ages 3-6 June 18-20.. They will be stressing basic skills in flag football, tee ball, soccer and basketball… Also on those dates Coach Jason Schumpert of LDHS will have a football camp… The deadline to register for both these camps is June 16… For more information see the posting in the Featured Sports section at or call the Y at 984-2621

And finally, its only 77 days until the start of high school football season on August 30th when Laurens will travel to BHP and Clinton will go to Gaffney. The night before PC will open their season at Wake Forest.
